2018
Brodcast live from The National Stadium in Warsaw on November 10th 2018. More than 37,000 participants at PGE Narodowy and millions via the media watched the Concert for the Independent, which was also attended by the Presidential Couple.
This extraordinary verbal and musical performance, which was preceded by a commemorative address by President Andrzej Duda delivered on the occasion of the centenary of Poland’s regaining independence, was a concert journey through the last hundred years of Polish history. We could hear songs that accompanied the Polish Legions fighting at Monte Cassino, soldiers and civilians defending the capital during the Warsaw Uprising. There was no shortage of songs that gave hope to those fighting against totalitarian rule, as well as those that accompanied joyful moments – at dances and discos.
Performers included Krystyna Prońko, thanks to whom Jacek Kaczmarski’s 'Mury’ – one of the most important artists of the 'Solidarity’ revolution – appeared in a new arrangement; Maryla Rodowicz, who performed the greatest hits of the youth song stars of the 1960s; and Natalia Sikora with a song written on the eve of the outbreak of martial law.
Other artists who performed their own arrangements of well-known songs included Kamil Bednarek, Aleksandra Kurzak, Adam Bałdych, L.U.C., Muniek Staszczyk, Natalia Nykiel, Sebastian Karpiel Bułecka, Mateusz Ziółko, Jan Pietrzak, Milo Kurtis, Sławek Uniatowski, Natalia Szroeder, Darek Malejonek and Maleo Reggae Rockers. On stage, we also saw, among others, Marek Piekarczyk, Michał Kowalonek, Andrzej Lampert, Olga Szomańska, Kasia Moś, Stanisława Celińska, Małą Armia Janosika, Sound’n’Grace, Tulia, the Mazowsze band, the Warsaw Dance Combo, the Warsaw Sentimelntal Orchestra and the SBB band.
The concert ended with the National Anthem performed by all invited artists, choirs and orchestra, and an audience of several thousand people at the PGE Narodowy. Concert was brodcast live by all polish tv stations.
