GALA OF THE 27TH EDITION OF POLISH FILM AWARDS – EAGLES

On 10 March 2025, the best filmmakers in Polish cinema received their coveted statuettes at the annual Eagles Gala at the Polish Theatre. The Polish Film Awards Eagles are prestigious honours awarded annually by the Polish Film Academy since 1999. Often referred to as the „Polish Oscars”, the awards honour the best achievements in domestic cinematography. The winners are chosen by a vote of the Academy’s members. The Eagles have gained a reputation as one of the most important awards in the Polish film industry. The Polish Film Awards Eagles are awarded for the highest achievements in the following categories: Best Film, Best Leading Male Role, Best Leading Female Role, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Lifetime Achievement, Best Supporting Male Role, Best Supporting Female Role, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Music, Best Costumes, Best Character Design, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Documentary, Best European Film, Discovery of the Year and Best Feature Film Series. The Audience Award is voted for by the audience.

The gala was dominated by the film „Girl with a Needle”, which – together with its creators – received a total of 11 statuettes.

Trine Dyrholm and Julian Swieżewski were honoured for best supporting roles in „Girl with a Needle” and „White Courage” respectively. The statuette in the Discovery of the Year category went to Maria Zbąska for „This is not my film”.

The Editing Award went to Agnieszka Glinska for „Girl with a Needle”. Frederikke Hoffmeier was awarded for the film’s music, Malgorzata Fudala for costumes, Anne Cathrine Sauerberg for make-up, Jagna Dobesz for set design and Michal Dymek for cinematography.

The winners in the Best Sound category were Johnnie Burn and Tarn Willers (Zone of Interest).

The winners of the Polish Film Awards Eagles 2025 for best leading roles in „Girl with a Needle” and „White Courage” respectively. – were Vic Carmen Sonne and Filip Plawiak.

The best director award went to Magnus von Horn for directing „The Girl with the Needle”.

As expected, Magnus von Horn’s „The Girl with the Needle” also won a statuette in the Best Film category. In total, 11 awards went to the makers of the film.
