2003

Amilcare Ponchielli’s opera Gioconda was a grand performance realised in the open air on Sand Island on the River Oder in Wrocław in 2003. The opera was seen live by an audience of 30,000 and the performance was recorded by the Polish Television. It was conceived by Ewa Michnik, director of the National Opera in Wrocław. The opera was directed by Krzysztof Jasiński. The television version of the opera was nominated in 2004 for the Rose d’Or award in the Arts and Special category.
