On Sunday, the final day of this year’s Opole Festival, the band Lady Pank was celebrating their 45th anniversary. It is worth noting that this legend of Polish rock has been enjoying a real resurgence of success recently.

Lady Pank will played a recital lasting over an hour at the Opole Festival, and the anniversary concert was hosted by Piotr Stelmach from Radio 357.

The set listl included such well-known hits as ‘Kryzysowa narzeczona’, ‘Mniej niż zero’, ‘Zostawcie Titanica’ and ‘Zawsze tam, gdzie Ty’. The band’s frontmen – guitarist Jan Borysewicz and vocalist Janusz Panasewicz – took to the stage, accompanied by bassist Krzysztof Kieliszkiewicz and drummer Kuba Jabłoński, who have been with the band since 1994.

Over the course of their 45-year history, the band have released many timeless hits, but it was their debut album, simply titled “Lady Pank”, that earned them cult status. Released on 20 June 1983, the album secured the band’s place in the history of Polish rock.

It is the only album from which as many as six songs reached number one on the prestigious Polish Radio Three Chart. In total, the album sold over a million copies, and in the depths of the Polish People’s Republic, there were huge queues outside shops.

The album *Lady Pank* featured hits such as ‘Kryzysowa narzeczona’, ‘Mniej niż zero’, ‘Zamki na piasku’, ‘Vademecum skauta’ and ‘Fabryka małp’. In 2018, a new version of their debut album, titled “LP1”, was released, recorded by Lady Pank with guest appearances by stars of the Polish music scene. The album included three bonus tracks that had originally been recorded and released even before the debut album “Lady Pank” came out – namely “Tańcz głupia tańcz”, “Mała Lady Punk” and “Minus 10 w Rio”.
