OFFPOLE

2023

The annual celebration of Polish music could not exist without offbeat sounds. Therefore, the 60th edition of the Opole Festival was accompanied by concerts of alternative music, including a good dose of rock, jazz and hip-hop.
This year, for the seventh time, the organizers of the KFPP in Opole invited representatives of various genres of offbeat music to perform. And this time the line-up did not disappoint us! The program included legendary rock sounds, jazz shows and hip-hop. There were also attractions for lovers of club music.
Such legends certainly included Andrzej Nowak, whose work was dedicated to the first day of OFFPOLA. The revered guitarist, composer, music producer and founder of avant-garde bands TSA and Złe Psy passed away unexpectedly last January.
During a unique concert featuring the cult band Złe Psy, one of the members of TSA, Marek Piekarczyk performed the band’s greatest hits in an acoustic version. Among the songs heard were „Płonę, płonę,” „51” and „Proceder.”

So far, rappers on the Opole stage have been a real rarity. OFFPOLE is a great opportunity to change that. Friday’s alternative music also featured legendary musicians who two decades ago created the history of Polish hip-hop.
Abradab, founder of the Kaliber44 formation, Rahim from the now-defunct Paktofonika band and Kleszcz, a member of the MaxFloRec label. Three years ago, the men recorded the album „Arkanoid” together.

Jazz fans could also count on a good dose of excitement. On Saturday, June 10, the event accompanying the KFPP in Opole will turn into a „Stage open to jazz.” The program will feature, among others, Piotr Wyleżoł and his progressive music project Flying Fish, as well as Patrycja Zarychta with premiere songs to be heard on her new album.

The second day of OFFPOLA was „Scene Open for Jazz.” The idea was to show the various musical colors of which our native jazz is composed,” announced Tomasz Koperwas. Next, DJ Krime and DJ Eprom took over the stage.
They are musicians known for their long-standing love affair with jazz, producers who have collaborated, both in original projects and concert sets, with, among others, Michal Urbaniak, Anthimos Apostolis and Bernard Maselli, Tomasz Koperwas said.
